Morro Bay High School

Morro Bay High School is located in the city of Morro Bay on the coast of San Luis Obispo County, California. Students of the school are typically residents of Morro Bay and the neighboring town of Los Osos (6 miles away). The school consists of about 900 to 1000 students a year. The school is only a 1/4 mile from the Pacific Ocean which is convenient for students during lunch breaks and before/after school.

Morro Bay High School sports teams (known locally as the Pirates) are within Los Padres League, which consists of 6 other high schools. The sports teams include:
Fall Sports: Boy's Waterpolo, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Girl's Golf, Girl's Tennis, Girl's Volleyball.
Winter Sports: Girl's Soccer, Boy's Soccer, Girl's Basketball, Boy's Basketball, Wrestling, Girl's Waterpolo
Spring Sports: Boy's Golf, Boy's Tennis, Boy's Volleyball, Swimming, Softball, Baseball, Track
A 2005 graduate was drafted in the 4th round (138 pick overall) of the 2005 MLB Draft by a minor league team of the Boston Red Sox.
In 2005, Morro Bay High School was accredited as a California Distinguished School by WASC, and also named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006.
Additionally, Morro Bay High was the first school in the district to have its website made entirely by students.
In early September 2006, the school received a bomb threat by telephone. This incident was notable because it was the first time that the school had gone to pre-evacuation status in many years.
