Morozovsk

Morozovsk (Russian: Моро́зовск) is a town in Rostov Oblast, Russia, located on the Bystraya River (left tributary of the Severny Donets), 265 km northeast of Rostov-on-Don. Population: 29,222 (2002 Census); 27,004 (1989 Census).

The khutor (village) of Morozov (Моро́зов) was founded in the 1880s. In 1900, the railway station of Morozovskaya (Моро́зовская), named after the village, was opened nearby. In 1910, the stanitsa (Cossack village) of Taubeyevskaya (Таубе́евская) was established near the railway station. It was renamed Morozovskaya on April 24, 1917. Later, the villages grew and merged, and the resulting settlement was granted town status in 1941.
