Morningside Gardens
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Morningside Gardens refers to a modest sized housing complex in the borough of Manhattan, New York. It's composed of 6 apartment buildings of 21 stories apiece, for a total of about 1,000 apartments.
The facility was one of the first owner-occupied co-ops in NYC, with the initial construction subsidized by government (tax) money. The process was later formalized in the "Mitchell-Lama" law, which led to many similar structures.
It's located just north of the main Columbia University and Jewish Theological Seminary in the south western section of Harlem.
