[edit] Biography

The band was first formed under the name Gothic by Jesper Johansson (lead vocals and guitar), Fredrik Johansson (guitar) and Kim Arnell (drums), shortly thereafter joined by Henrik Weimedal (bass). In late 1996, Christian Stinga-Borg joined the band as new vocalist and Jesper went to just playing the guitar.

After a local gig, Morifade (as they now called themselves) was signed to the new started label Loud N' Proud Records. The Mini-CD “Across The Starlit Sky” was released in early 1998.

Shorlty after the CD had been released, Christian had to be replaced due to the bad chemistry between him and the rest of the band. But they quickly found their new man in Stefan Petersson (vocals). During the writing process of the bands first album Fredrik also had to leave the band due to personal issues. The band decided to record the album as a quartet.

The first full-length album “Possession Of Power” was recorded and released in 1999.

Some months after the release two new members were found in keyboardist Fredrik "Frippe" Eriksson (ex- Tad Morose) and Adrian Kanebäck (guitar). With this line-up, Morifade began to gain a lot of gigs both in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

In the year 2000 the band entered the Los Angered Recording Studio (owned by Andy LaRocque from King Diamond). This time to record some songs for a new Mini-CD entitled “Cast A Spell” and “Judas”, a cover song for a tribute to Helloween (The Keepers Of Jericho Part I).

Besides the writing of new material for their second full-length album, Morifade was now in search for a new record label. Finally the band decided to sign with Hammerheart Records (now more known as Karmageddon). During this time Adrian left the band in lack of interest. Kim's younger brother Robin Arnell was asked to play the guitar and he said yes straight away.

In 2001 the recording of the second full-length album "Imaginarium" started, but it wasn’t released until April 2002.

The recording of the new album "Domi<>Nation" took place for the third time in Los Angered Recording studio, it started in January 2003 and ended in April.

"Domi<>Nation" was released in early 2004.

And in the middle of 2004, Stefan decided to leave Morifade, he was soon replaced by Kristian Wallin. And as if that wasn't enough, Jesper Johansson also decided to quit the band. He was replaced by former Pain and Hypocrisy guitarist Mathias Kamijo. This line-up has written eleven new songs. They will start recording their new album in March, according to the bands official website.
