Morgart is a surname (last name). In the US, the vast majority of Morgarts are found in the state of Pennsylvania. Common variations of this name include Morgarten, Morgret and Morgrette. While the origin is unknown, it is believed to have some ties to Morgarten, Switzerland. There is also research that Peter Philip Marckert arrived in Philadelphia Pa.Oct.1748 on the Ship Elliot. The ships captain was James Adams..The passengers came from an area near the Swiss, German border. This may be the same Philip Morgret father of Peter.
