[edit] History

Morgan County was the first county in Ohio to completely consolidate its high schools into one. The school is located in McConnelsville, Ohio along the scenic banks of the Muskingum River. The Morgan County School District received matching funds in the Vocational Act of 1963. This allowed school officials to plan and create a new vocational department at the proposed new high school scheduled to open in 1966.

With the new school came a new name for the teams and new colors for everyone. The “Morgan Raiders” became the Morgan’s official team name for its athletes. The school’s new colors were decided to be silver-gray and blue and the dominant colors with red as a minor color.

On October 1, 1966 nearly 2,000 people assembled for the outdoor dedication ceremony, while many viewed the program closed circuit television in various rooms inside the newly built high school.
