More Pie Now (MPN) is a fictional character originating in the O'Reilly comic book series around the late nineteen nineties, but popularized more recently in the manga "Southgate, Cutter and Tinman" released to a limited audience in late 2005. He is a large yellow robot of indefinite origin. The technology used to create MPN is far more advanced than anything else in the O'Reilly universe, so although malfunctioning he is effectively impossible to immobilize.
In the original story, More Pie Now (MPN) made transient appearances throughout the series, being confined to the ship's bilge most of the time to act as ballast. The loss of stability of the ship whenever MPN escaped to the deck accentuated his disruptive nature well. Despite the near panic induced in the crew upon his emergence, MPN's advanced technology has saved the ship on a number of occasions.
In the manga MPN plays a more central role, as a more-or-less constant companion of the leading trio. The presence in their party of a large malfunctioning robot causes the group a lot of trouble, especially around cities, where law enforcement is inevitably alarmed. Despite all the trouble, as in the original comic, MPN's technologies, when they work, can prove a very useful asset to the group. There are ongoing debates throughout the series about whether they would be better off without MPN, but these inevitably conclude with the realization that there is no way to stop the insane robot following them, as they discover the hard way on a number of occasions.
