More Fun in the New World is the fourth album by the band X. It was reissued with four bonus tracks by Rhino Records in 2002.
The sound on this album was more polished than their previous efforts, Los Angeles, Wild Gift, & Under the Big Black Sun. Many of the band's loyal fan base from their earliest L.A.-area gigging days were disappointed, feeling the band had taken a more commercial approach. The overall sound of the album, particularly the vocals of singers John Doe & Exene Cervenka, however, had excelled, and the record has received critical praise from some fans and from records reviewers, particularly Rolling Stone and Playboy, who had long been stalwart supporters and fans of X and their sound.
The band recorded "Breathless" after they found out that an American version of Jean-Luc Godard's 1960 film À bout de souffle was being made. In the event, the 1983 film used the Otis Blackwell-written Jerry Lee Lewis 1958 song during the film and X's version during the end credits. Something Wild (1986) used "The New World."
