Mordor (Athens)

Mordor is the area of Athens, Georgia outlined by Athens-Clarke County Police zone 11. The area is located in the east-central region of the city. Mordor derives its name from the "black gate" found at the intersection of S. Peter St. and Oak St. The area is marked by its high crime rate, low income, and alleged gang activity. Prominent features of Mordor include the North Oconee River Park, Dudley Park, Nellie B. housing projects, Bonnie Lane housing projects, Towne View housing projects, and the Athens Boys and Girls Club. Prominent gangs of the area include Los Primos, Trap Boyz, ETA, and Duplex13 (DX3).
