Moravan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Moravan Otrokovice is a Czech (and formerly Czechoslovak) aircraft company located at Otrokovice Airfield, on the outskirst of Otrokovice.
The company was founded in 1934 and since then has built over 5,600 aircraft. It is best known for its training and acrobatic planes, such as the Zlin 242.
After the fall of Communism (1989) in Czechoslovakia, the company was forced to compete on the international market. In 2001 the company bought collapsing competitor Let Kunovice, but they both collapsed in 2004. The company has a new Irish owner now and is still producing Zlin aircraft, mainly Z 142 C, Z 242 L, Z 143 L and Z 143 LSi (see official site).
