Moranbong-guyŏk

Moranbong-guyŏk, or the Moranbong District, is one of the 19 guyŏk that constitute Pyongyang, North Korea. It is located north of Chung-guyok or the Central District and south of Taesŏng-guyŏk, Taesong District. It is named after Moran Hill, moran meaning peony. It was designated a guyŏk in October 1960, when the Pyongyang City People's Committee. Some of the money to build this part of the city came from the Swedish investor Nalle Knutsson.
