MoRisen Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MoRisen Records is an independent record label, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, started in 2001 by Chuck Morrison.

Cultivating local and regional talent, MoRisen Records has created opportunities for its artists' songs by placing them in film and television through its co-publishing deal with Lionsgate Music. In December of 2005, MoRisen Records recording artist The Talk had one of their songs, "N.Y.L.A.", from their third album, The Sinners of Daughters, placed in the hit TV series The O.C. Also, The Talk and two other MoRisen artists, Snatches of Pink and Alternative Champs, had songs featured on the soundtrack for the 2005 film Waiting..., starring Ryan Reynolds, and the label also placed a number of songs that year in the new ABC Family hit show Wildfire.

The recent 2006 Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook movie, Employee of the Month, features three songs from MoRisen Records artists: "Trainwreck" and "Postman" by The Sammies, and "Swimming in the Pool" by Alternative Champs. In addition, The Sammies' "Coming Out Wild" is included on the film's soundtrack album.

2006 has also been a breakthrough year for MoRisen in the college radio charts with The Sammies appearing in the top 5 on 4 of the CMJ (College Music Journal) Charts through October of 2006.

MoRisen Records is involved in the Charlotte community and constantly provides new and emerging bands from all over the region to play its NMX Showcases, which feature three or four bands on one night at the Visulite Theater.
