[edit] Summary

This is an image cropped from a flyer for a 14 November 1971 recital given by Ivan Moravec at Queen Elizabeth Hall. The flyer has no copyright, only the name of the concert promoter, Geoffrey Terry. In 2004 I bought a copy of the flyer on eBay, and after a brief search on the Internet for the owner, posted it on Ivan Moravec's fan web site. Shortly afterwards, I received an email from Geoffrey Terry, introducing himself. I asked if he objected to my posting the flier online, and he said no, he was "pleasantly surprised" to see it there. I have tried to reach Mr. Terry to ask him about using it for Wikipedia, but he has not replied. I believe that he is the closest person we have to a copyright owner, and that it's fair to assume he has no objection to the image's use for this purpose.

[edit] Fair use for ARTICLE NAME

The image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:

  1. it is a historically significant photo of a famous individual;
  2. it is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality)
  3. the photo is only being used for informational purposes.
  4. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of this article at the beginning of his career. Photos of the subject in current commercial use are generally recent.
  5. Copyright owner is unknown, but the poster's original publisher gave me permission to post it on line.
