Contents

[edit] Differences from FoMT

MFoMT is nearly identical to FoMT (Friends of Mineral Town), except the main character is a girl (as opposed to a boy), and can marry one of five normal bachelors and another three special bachelors in Mineral Town. Besides that, the game remains almost unchanged, with the exception of several gameplay changes, improvements, and tweaks.

[edit] Heroine Points

In addition to farm degree points, the Heroine Point system has been added to the game. There are seven rings which give the player 30 Heroine Points (see Farm Degree above) for a special events or things they did/completed, such as; the Starry Night Festival, or Marriage. The player can also get rings from the mail. These rings, other than the amount of points, serve no actual purpose.

[edit] Misc. Other Tweaks

[edit] Drawing

One is the addition of a drawing. If the player looks in their mailbox, the player may find a letter that reads:

Congratulations!
You have won the drawing,
Please accept this.

For winning the player receives a Van's Favorite. If the player links to Another Wonderful Life, they could give it to Van, and gain the option to buy one of several items for 1,000,000 G, most of which are the same item as items you could receive from girls in FoMT, with a different description. Or after befriending Won, selling it to him for 47000-57000 G. Receiving the first letter of such a letter, the player will receive 11 Letter points.

[edit] Starry Night Festival

Another small change was made to the Starry Night Festival. The day before the festival, the Mayor will come up to the player's house, saying he has letters for them. If the player has bachelors with green hearts or above, they will receive a letter from them. The player can only get letters from Rick, Cliff, Doctor, or Gray since Kai isn't around in Winter. For instance, if the player has Rick and Cliff at Green heart each, they will receive two letters, and will have to choose just one. However, the Mayor will just record your answer, and tell you that the lucky boy will be happy. You do not get any Letter Points from this.

[edit] Clothing

Also, if the player buys the mirror, they can change the color of their character's clothing to green, red, pink, orange, white, or the original blue.

[edit] Characters

There are many characters populating the town of Mineral Town. Interaction with these characters is an important part of game play, as is befriending them. There are no characters who just live in Mineral Town. Most run shops, and others run the library, winery, and bar. There are some important characters like the Bachelors, and your Child.

[edit] Bachelors

Besides working on your farm, there are five guys to marry, as well as the three "bonus" bachelors. Their affection for you is shown in the "heart color", black being the lowest, red being the highest. There are also "heart events", that come with each heart color for each bachelor.

The available bachelors are Cliff, Gray, Doctor, Kai, Rick, Gourmet, Won and the Kappa.

For the special bachelors, (Gourmet, Kappa, and Won) there are no visible hearts, and they have some extra requirements for marriage adding to the task of marrying them. For a marriage, you must own every item on the TV Shopping Network and have all the house extensions (not including the bath). However, once married, your husband will not help you in your chores.

[edit] Cliff

He is a shy guy that spends his days at the church and his nights at the Inn. You will have a choice on Autumn 14 in the first year to invite him to a grape harvest at the Aja Winery. If you choose not to invite him, he will leave Mineral Town and will not return, taking him out of the marriage options. If you do pursue him for the harvest, he will be offered and accept a job from Duke, Aja Winery's owner. Cliff is extremely grateful to you for saving him after he passes out in the Rose Square in the second (or first, depending on the time you visit the square, and his affection level for your character) winter season. His favorite item is Curry Rice. Cliff left for mineral town earlier, then returned home to find his mother dead, and his sister gone to somewhere unknown. His special gift to you is a handmade mountain flower necklace. Your rival for Cliff is Ann, who works at the Inn. Ann walks around the inn and is there with her father Doug.If you do not marry cliff within the first 2-3 years, Cliff will run out of money and leave Mineral Town.

[edit] Gray

Gray works as an apprentice under his strict grandfather at the Blacksmith. He appears cold when you first meet him, but he softens greatly around the edges as you get to know him. He is very uncertain about his path in life and mentions that he would like to quit his work at the Blacksmith. Gray is quiet and very affectionate. He is very uncomfortable around your character at first, having never been close to girls before. Saibara describes Gray as being 'too shy to have anything to do with women'. He is extremely surprised if you propose to him and says that you are "really something else". His special gift to you is a silver brooch that he made. Your rival for Gray is Mary, who runs the library. He will continue to work at the Blacksmith after you get married. He will also not take on your chores after you get married and help you with them. It is a very good idea to get the Harvest Sprites to help you when you are pregnant.

[edit] Doctor

Doctor is exactly what his name says--a doctor at the Mineral Town's Hospital. He is very business like and worries about his work and your health. When you start getting to know him, he will ask you to try some of his new medicines which almost cause your character to faint. He is touched that you would test them out for him, however. Even though he is serious to the core, he is extremely devoted to you and says that you are the only one who understands him fully. He's one of the easiest Bachelors to marry. His special gift to you is a Relaxing Ion. Your rival for the Doctor is Elli who also works in the hospital. He likes milk(any size)and any herbs that you can find.

[edit] Kai

Kai is a traveler who comes to Mineral Town every summer to set up his small shop on Mineral Beach, where you can buy stamina and fatigue-replenishing food. He is outgoing, free-spirited, and charming, but is often labeled as a "player" by certain men of the town. Rick in particular is not very fond of him. He comes from a troubled family who didn't support his wishes to be a chef. Kai is only available for gifts in the summer. His special gift to you is his Good Luck Charm from another town. His favorite gift is a pineapple. Your rival for Kai is Popuri, who lives at the Poultry Farm.

[edit] Rick

Rick works for his sick mother at the Poultry Farm downtown. He is energetic, affectionate and passionate about what he loves. He enjoys working with chickens, but is often very controlling to his little sister, Popuri, because he doesn't approve of Kai for some untold reason. His father left the family when Rick was very young, so he plays the role of man of the house. When not at the Poultry Farm, Rick enjoys spending time at the Inn's bar at night with his best friend, Karen. His special gift to you is his childhood treasure, his father's Watch. His favorite item is a spa-boiled egg, Your rival for Rick is Karen, Rick's childhood sweetheart.

[edit] Won

Won,a salesman, will provide various features that are very helpful to the player. One is to sell "special" apples, from his selection of SUGDW (Super Ultra Great Delicious Wonderful), HMSGB (Hyper-Miracle Sweet-Gorgeous-Beautiful), and AEPFE (Angelic-Eternal-Pure-Fresh-Elegant) apples. They are all needed to complete both the Shipping and Recipe lists. He will also offer to buy items off the player once his affection is higher, and at times, he will provide higher (and sometimes lower) prices than Zack's shipping prices. Once a season starting in year 2, he will offer to sell the player a Vase for 5,000 G. The final feature he gives you is the option to play an Apple-Finding Game, where you can win a Mysterious Ticket or Queen of the Night. Won thinks Karen is pretty, but will not marry her, therefore he has no real "rival". He is a secret bachelor and has an invisible heart.

[edit] Kappa

Kappa is a mysterious kappa that lives in the lake by Mother's Hill. To find him, you must throw in cucumbers for 10 days in a row. Another way to see him (but not talk to him) is to fish him out randomly from his lake. He is a secret bachelor and has an invisible heart.

[edit] Mr. Gourmet

This is the last secret Bachelor, he is seen at The Cooking Festival only. To marry him, you must cook all 108 dishes, and win the Cooking Festival in all five of its themes. He loves Elli Leaves.

[edit] Child

Once the player marries a husband, they will be able to have a child. If you can maintain a full ten hearts on your husbands heart meter, you may become pregnant one season/30 days after the marriage date (e.g. If you were to marry on Summer 2 and maintain the full ten hearts, you could become pregnant as early as Fall 2). After another 2 seasons, the player will have a daughter. The player may name the baby, but will be unable to talk to it and it will not come out of bed. After another two seasons come by, their baby will be able to crawl, and speak in "baby talk". The player may give her gifts and be friends with her. After another 2 seasons, she will be able to walk. The child will not grow, learn, or move out of the house after that. She always wears a mouse-like hat. Your child will fall asleep at 6:00 PM, and will take naps occasionally throughout the day.

[edit] European release

Despite many claims of a European release, it never happened. Previous Harvest Moon titles were released by Ubisoft[1] and More Friends of Mineral Town was to follow but there was no official release. It's speculated this angered the people at Marvelous (Japanese distributor and developer in charge) so much so that Marvelous created its own company for distributing and releasing games for Europe named "Rising Star".[2] Ubisoft no longer handles the Harvest Moon series as Rising Star was given that task (With the Exception of the Friends of Mineral Town Sequel Harvest Moon Online).
