Moonak is a town and a nagar panchayat in Sangrur district in the Indian state of Punjab.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Moonak had a population of 14,928. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Moonak has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 58%, and female literacy is 45%. Moonak was originally known as Akalgarh. During the period when the emperor Maharaja Ranjit Singh ruled Punjab,his uncle hold the charges, but sometime after that his uncle cheated him under the pressure of the English. Singh attacked Moonak, and saved it from undergoing the English. It is a town with population about 25,000, and is a Tehsil of the Sangrur district.
