User talk:Monika London

There, I'm not sure you'll like it at first, but take it from me I've done you a favour. I'm not even sure why, it's not as if I'm any relation! Anyway, don't put all that stuff back in, or the whole article might get deleted. Fayenatic london 23:18, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome! Stricter editors might object that the page is still overstepping the mark on some Wikipedia guidelines e.g. external links, but at least it looks like an an encyclopedia article. Wikipedia is here for people to find out about people and things, but not as free advertising, so take care not to abuse it in a blatantly promotional way -- pages do get deleted if administrators consider them "spam". Links to independent external sources are much better than pages maintained by the subject. External links should also not be excessive. See if you like the subtle way I've just tucked in a link to the reviews on your external page.
- By the way, users have both a "user" page and a "user talk" page; please post discussions on the user talk page rather than the user page. The user talk page is reached using the "discussion" tab at the top, similar to the talk page for each article. - Fayenatic london 15:10, 11 February 2007 (UTC) (talk)
- Corrected note and edited to maintain Wikipedia's fundamental policies - neutral point of view i.e. articles must be objective, not matters of opinion. - Fayenatic london 19:37, 11 February 2007 (UTC)90.5.224.235 (talk) 17:35, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
I've updated the links again. I happened to bump into a young couple coming out from the show on its last night - "best show I've ever seen", she said. Sorry to hear it has come to the end of its run. - Fayenatic london (talk) 20:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

- Hi Monika, there would have to be very strong grounds to pick individual names from Category:Impressionists (entertainers) for the article, such as national prominence on TV. I think the British section is about right. - Fayenatic (talk) 07:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for your kind remarks. Once I've "adopted" a page, I do try to keep it to a certain standard!
- Feel free to add to the Impressionsists article yourself re the classic showroom genre.
- There seemed to be no reason not to add the show to the West End 2007 list, as there were other entries there which had no articles about the performers; so I've done that.
- I went looking for a source for the 2001 Spotlight award, and found Greg Franks! Is there any reason not to add this name/alias to the article? (cf. Elton and Cliff.)
- By the way, here's an award that's not in the IMDB resume. - Fayenatic (talk) 18:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

- Well, I won't force the issue if you have reasons to avoid it, but the only way to source some of the statements already in the article would be to acknowledge the alias. I stopped looking after I found Pebble Beach, Calif., Singer a Hit on the Corporate Circuit (1998 - Chrysler etc) and Entertainer of the Year 2001. I'd still suggest that these could be recorded on the article talk page with a note that the artist no longer wishes to be known by this name. That name does have plenty of Google hits as an entertainer, and all the pages I looked at were positive. - Fayenatic (talk) 20:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Monika, I see you are trying the ~~~~ thing. It doesn't work in the edit summary box. Just use it at the end of your comments on talk ("discussion") pages - both user talk pages (like this one) and talk pages about articles. Hope this helps, - Fayenatic (talk) 20:03, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

- That's odd, I thought I left you some more messages but they weren't saved. I'm still learning too! You can get to this page from anywhere in Wikipedia using the link "my talk" at the very top. You could also have clicked on "Monika London (talk)" on my talk page. HTH, Fayenatic (talk) 07:39, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
