I don't get this part of it: "Talent spotters recruited him to the Buffalo Bills, and he played football professional for five years, competing one in the Super Bowl; Super Bowl XXVIII for the Buffalo Bills in 1994, player briefly for the New England Patriots in 1996, but was not on the Super Bowl Roster vs Green Bay."

[edit] WWE

Monty Brown could be leaving TNA soon to go to the WWE.

This does not belong on wikipedia until it actually happens.

Well he did leave TNA.

Altough he asked for his release he is still with TNA cause he is still on their roster profile. http://www.tnawrestling.com/roster/thealphamale/index.html

Roster pages don't mean alot. TNA and WWE don't update the pages always. I wish people would understand this more. It would clear up lots of confusion. RobJ1981 21:11, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

When Jeff Hardy left TNA to WWE, TNA idmidently took him off so... gamehead

If Monty Brown does go to the WWE they need to give him a new finisher cause the pounce is terrible.

he signed w/ wwe. it says on wwe.com

Lashley going to feel the POUNCE tonight at the ECW Tapings 12/4

Is it right to put speculation on the WWE part of the page? I mean, I understand there has been a lot of speculation about him being backstage, but it's not fact, so should it therefor be deleted?--Bloberto 22:08, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mont Brown on ECW

definatley on ECW

70.118.67.75 04:01, 17 January 2007 (UTC) "The reason for the name change from Monty Brown to Marquis Cor Von was to make sure there would be no copyright infringement lawsuit by TNA which owns the rights to Monty Brown's in ring name."

This makes no sense. I'd think TNA owned "The Alpha Male" which they used, and not "Monty Brown" which is his real name.

I don't think that a company can actually have a copyright or trademark on a person's real name (that is why Jim Hellwig had his name legally changed to "Warrior" and Andrew Martin to Andrew Test Martin), so it doesn't really make any sense at all to me either. --MartinSL 07:21, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the last 2 posts. It's more so that should become a star under WWE's promotion it IS with a name they can trademark. Look at Angle. WWE couldn't do a thing about him using "Kurt Angle" in TNA. It's his real name. It's a smart move on WWE's part but a selfish one.

It's not selfish, look at TNA for selfish. They forced Low Ki to change his ringname since he refused to give them ownership of it. TJ Spyke 01:37, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WTF?

who and why did someone put "as Marquis Cor Van the gayest gimmick in pro wrestling"?

Dustinwayne 03:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Because vandalism happens all the time and you don't need to report it on the article's talk page. ---SilentRAGE! 23:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ring name=

Shouldn't his ring name be changed to "Marcus" instead of "Marquis" in the intro paragraph? As mentioned later on in the article, it was changed on ECW last Tuesday (or earlier, last night was the first time I've seen him). JoeTBF13 23:50, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pic

Could we get a new pic of him shown in WWE with his Marcus Cor Von gimmick instead of the Monty Brown gimmick? ----Belevsquad 21:18, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Finisher

Monty used a new finisher that was sort of a lift up cobra-clutch slam. What is the technical name?

[edit] 13/04/07 Vince doesn't like Monty

According to the ProWrestling Insiden Marcus Cor Von at this point so his planned title shot at One Night Stand is now in serious jeopardy. Daniel trfc 08:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cor Von Death?

The final note about Cor Von being dead is likely a joke pertaining to the Benoit family tragedy. It sounded legit except for the part about his son being "pounced to death." The Pounce is Cor Von's finishing move. I would have to say it would be impossible to pounce someone so hard that their torso would disconnect. -Luchastyle July 19th 2:30 AM

[edit] car von no show

why did car von no show ecw last week

There has been a death in his family and WWE are giving him some time to get over it. Now I'm not saying this is relieble information, and it shouldn't be put up or anything but I have heard that it was his mother who died.

[edit] Alpha Male nickname origin not at TNA return

I'm removing a sentence from the page because it's incorrect. Here is is, with a few more lines for context.

"He returned to the company on March 10, 2004, attacking the Insane Clown Posse during a match in the process.[8] He now had a gimmick of being from the Serengeti, dressed variously in leopard- and tiger-print trunks, and possessed the mannerisms of an African predatory animal.[9] This earned him the moniker "The Alpha Male"."

He was known as "The Alpha Male" even during his early appearances in TNA, before his serengeti type gimmick, and even used The Alpha Bomb as his finisher in those early appearances, to go along with the nickname.76.226.197.85 (talk) 04:41, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
