I was just wiki browsing and didn't expect to find a wiki page for montada.. however it saddens me that it's pended for deletion. I have been a member of that forum since 2001 If I remember correctly and that site was life changing experince to me.. It was one of the first forums in arabic that had a section for art with alot of arab active artists and believe me artists who draw are shunned at and burned on the stick.

Montada.com had alot of conterversies.. in 2003 it was blocked for the final exams 2nd week because of a member called "nono" posted the final questions using his contacts with students of saudi system who live abroad. The site traffic doubled in that period. However citing information about an arabic forum isn't easy. I give Anas credit for his effort.

The forum is ocassionally blocked by the Saudi internet service from time to time.. sometimes the block extends to months.. It recieved alot of attention on arab media. I read about it in the Riyadh news paper. There was also a computer show in Kuwait that even showed a video for the forum and talked about it aside from mention. It's too bad that alot of this forum does can't be cited.. while what Al Qeada does in that forum is cited without problems.

It's a fact to notice that such large arabic forums are getting alot of attention since the electronic jihad phase started with 9/11 and etcetra. I believe there is a wikipedia justification just in that part.

I believe however that there is alot more to say about it while not turning this to an advertisement.. just could use alot more research. Sorry for my crappy writing! I am at work and feeling uneasy sneaking a post like this. I posted this first on the deletion dicussion talk page but Anas suggested I post it here instead.Plsk1n 0335 05:44, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
