Here's a resource that says otherwise: A 1914 streetcar map over on pdxhistory.com, located here, clearly includes Monitor. And in the right place, too.  :)

Rereading it, it still doesn't make a lot of sense. I think the implication is that since the p.o. was created shortly after the Civil War, the name memorialized the ship. I'll recheck OGN after I get some sleep. Katr67 05:05, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
