[edit] Link with Mnemosyne
The article states that the link of Moneta with Mnemosyne is unclear. According to my Latin-Dutch dictionary (Prisma Handwoordenboek, 2nd print 1994) one of the meanings of the verb "monēre" is "herinneren aan" which translates to English as "to remind/remember of". If the name Moneta is derived from the verb "monēre", I do see a clear link with Mnemosyne, the personification of memory. However, this is all just speculation on my part and I have no specific background in Roman or Greek language or mythology. Perhaps someone who does have such a background could look into this.
