[edit] Biography
White spent two years investigating the optical and electrical properties of organic semiconductors before moving to Cardiff, where he joined the administration at the University there. During this time, he held a number of senior positions including Academic Registrar and Director of the International Office. He is also a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
White has spoken on the subject of Creation/Evolution in continental Europe and in Hong Kong. He has appeared on British television and has authored books and pamphlets on Creationism including Why I believe in Creation and How old is the Earth? He states that he rejects evolution on both theological and scientific grounds.
White is married with three adult children. His wife, Irene, also works for Answers in Genesis as a seminar coordinator.
[edit] Beliefs
In 1964, White converted to Christianity from atheism despite his parents' beliefs, while he was studying as an undergraduate. White explains that initially he accepted theistic evolution, but then began to believe that "evolution is not compatible with Christianity."[1]
White believes the earth is about 6,000 years old and that "people believe in evolution because they choose to do so." Furthermore, he says "there is not a shred of real evidence for the evolution of life on earth."[2] . This "Young Earth" belief contradicts other widely held scientific beliefs such as those which are the foundation of Astronomy, Cosmology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Ecology, Hydrology, Geology, Geophysics and Linguistics.
In his autobiographical paper "My spiritual pilgrimage from theistic evolution to Creation," White says the following:
Each discipline should be dismantled, and, starting at the foundation, purged of unbiblical notions and rebuilt in accordance with biblical values and givens ... If ultimately we will be fools in the eyes of the world anyway, why not at least be consistent fools, and uphold God's Word in its undiminished entirety? [3]
The cornerstone of his argument against evolution stems from his claims that it has never be proven to be true and that what evidence there is for Evolution is tarnished with uncertainies and faults (for example, the Peppered Moth.). He claims that the only evidence that has been 'proven' is the Bible and that, as the word of God, it should be believed and taken literally word for word "From the very first verse."
He believes that the Bible states that there was no death in the world before Adam and that no creature could have ever evolved before the time of humans, as death is a required part of the evolutionary process.
