Montrose Crossing

Montrose Crossing is an open-air shopping center located in Rockville, Maryland. The shopping center consists of three parts. The original section, opened in the 1960s, consists of Giant Food, Sports Authority, various resaurants, salons, and Marshalls. The second section, opened in 1998, consists of a small two-story complex featuring Barnes & Noble, a few other specialty stores, and Tara Thai restaurant on the ground level of a four-story parking deck, which features a neon-lit glass elevator. An addition to this section in March 2007 added a 20-story residential condominium (Midtown Bethesda North), including a 5-story parking deck, which is above ground but below the condominium, therfore, the condos start at level 6. The condos and parking deck are adjacent to the four-level deck, built in 1998.
The third section of the complex, opened April 5, 2005, added a 2-story "Urban" Target store, with checkouts and exits on both levels to a six-story parking deck.
The complex is located at the intersection of Maryland Route 355 (Rockville Pike) and Randolph/Montrose roads. The state of Maryland plans to convert this congested intersection to a grade-separated interchange[citation needed], and eliminating the train crossing on Randolph Rd, causing traffic to shift 100 yards on the new Montrose Parkway. The parkway will have a grade-separated interchange with MD-355, and an overpass over the railroad.
