Montpelier is a city in Stutsman County, North Dakota in the United States. The population was 103 at the 2000 census. Montpelier was founded in 1885.

Montpelier is located at 46°41′59″N, 98°35′15″W (46.699828, -98.587374)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 103 people, 44 households, and 31 families residing in the city. The population density was 385.9 people per square mile (147.3/km²). There were 45 housing units at an average density of 168.6/sq mi (64.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.03% White and 0.97% African American.

There were 44 households out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were married couples living together, 13.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.77.

In the city the population was spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 31.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 119.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $26,250, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $22,083 versus $20,500 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,619. There were no families and 6.0% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 17.4% of those over 64.
