[edit] History
Montgomery County Texas had a divisive string of book challenges.[1] A library takeover was planned[2] by county commissioner Alan B. Sadler that almost resulted in his arrest. Sadler sought to approve all materials procured by the library. The ongoing struggle instigated by book banners and the county commissioner resulted in a Lifetime Achievement Award being presented to Library Director Jerilynn Williams from the ALA.
