Montessori School of Louisville

Montessori School of Louisville is a new independent, non-profit school serving pre-K through eighth grade students located in the former Our Mother of Sorrows Elementary School building. The school was formed by Montessori parents and educators in 2006 to address the void in Montessori middle school education in the Louisville area. Montessori educational options have dwindled in the Metro Louisville area over the past decade. Some observers suggest the market is dominated by Catholic and traditional models and understanding of Montessori education is not widespread in the community. Others contend that, unlike other private school programs in the area, no Montessori schools have ever offered a full K-8 equivalent.
