Monterchi borders the following municipalities: Anghiari, Arezzo, Citerna, Città di Castello, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina.

The most famous cultural attraction of Monterchi is the fresco of the Madonna del Parto by Piero della Francesca, which is (after a restoration in 19921-1993) now displayed in the erstwhile primary school of the commune. Formerly it covered a wall in the Chapel of Santa Maria di Momentana and was rediscovered (in very bad condition) in the last century.
