Montana New Zealand Book Awards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Montana New Zealand Book Awards are a series of literary awards to works of New Zealand citizens. They were created in 1996, as a merge of the two previously most relevant awards in New Zealand: the Montana Book Awards and the New Zealand Book Awards.
The two main prizes in this event are the Deutz Medal for fiction and poetry works, and the Montana Medal for non-fiction works. The Reader's Choice prize is awarded through a readership-wide vote. The First Book prizes are awarded to first time authors.
Booksellers New Zealand manages the Montana New Zealand Book Awards. The awards main sponsors are Montana Wines and Creative New Zealand. Other supporters include the Book Publishers Association of New Zealand, the New Zealand Society of Authors and Book Tokens (NZ) Ltd.
