Montalto di Castro is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Viterbo in the Italian region Latium, located about 90 km northwest of Rome and about 40 km west of Viterbo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,061 and an area of 189.4 km².[1]
The municipality of Montalto di Castro contains the frazione (subdivision) Pescia Romana, and is the site of the never-operated Montalto di Castro nuclear power station.
Montalto di Castro borders the following municipalities: Canino, Capalbio, Manciano, Tarquinia, Tuscania.
