Montaione is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Florence in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 35 km southwest of Florence. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,641 and an area of 104.8 km².[1]

Montaione borders the following municipalities: Castelfiorentino, Gambassi Terme, Palaia, Peccioli, San Miniato, Volterra.

Filicaja is a small village that is famous as the starting point of Antonio da Filicaja for the invasion of Pisa by the Florentine army in 1509.
