Montafon

Montafon is the valley in Austria extending from Bludenz to the Silvretta. It is also known in the local dialect as Muntafu. The main village is Schruns. It is famous for skiing, hiking, and mountain-biking.
In the Montafon there are two 9-hole golf courses, one in Tschagguns and one in Partenen. The Stand Montafon is the association of the 10 Montafon valley villages.
A number of celebrities have stayed in this valley, such as Ernest Hemingway and Erich Kästner; Elisabeth Schwarzkopf spent her last years in Schruns, where she died on 2 August 2006.
