Monster Hunter Freedom is a video game for the PlayStation Portable composed of a complex mix of adventure, hack 'n' slash, and RPG elements. The game's aim is to complete quests given by various people in the goal of attaining higher and more prestigious hunting ranks. This game is the third installation in the Monster Hunter series and is based mostly on the second game, Monster Hunter G. However, this game contains many changes in order to allow playing through most quests alone. It has been critized for its unusually long loading-screens and its slow pacing, both of which have been improved in the sequel.

[edit] Gameplay
Just like its predecessors, Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter G, this game revolves around the player completing quests and gathering materials to upgrade their equipment in order to advance. The more rare the items and equipment, the stronger the main physical aspects of the character will be. Unlike other hack 'n' slash games, this game requires planning, study and skill in order to overcome large monsters instead of brute force. There are many weapons with which the hunter can use to bring down the monsters, these are sword and shield, great sword, dual swords, hammer, lance, bowgun and the heavy bowgun. Each requires a variety of items to create which are acquired by completing quests, and collecting the spoils carved from monsters or found on the ground.
[edit] Singleplayer
In this mode the player can do village elder quests, and enter the Offline Gathering Hall to do guild quests by themselves, and buy items to aid in the completion of the quest.
[edit] Multiplayer
If players enter the Online Gathering Hall they can go on quests with other monster hunter players via the psp's adhoc. They can exchange guild cards which keep track of the characters stats. They can also go on treasure hunting quests. While the characters are waiting for others to join their quests there is a table they can sit at. While sitting at the table, you can push the different directions on the directional arrows to perform various animations such as swinging you beer mug, or passing out from drunkenness.
[edit] Classes
[edit] H-Class
There are a number of H-classes. As your H-class gets higher, you will get access to more items, and weapons, and more quests as well.
[edit] G-Class
G-class is a new addition to Monster Hunter Freedom. These quests are taken straight from Monster Hunter G, which is unreleased in the U.S and Europe., and present a much more difficult challenge for hunters. In return for this, hunters receive better rewards for completing the quest. G-class quests are the elite groupings of quests, new monster variations, new monsters, more hp and attack power than ever before.
[edit] Character
[edit] Weapons
As said above, there are many types of weapons. There are two ways of obtaining weapons; buying them, or creating them. Buying weapons only works for you when you are on the low level quests, considering the shop is never updated, so that leaves you with creation. Creation goes as follows.
Let's say you want to make the Sentoryu Wolf Great Sword. You would go to the man who creates the weapon, and look at the Requirements:
80,000z (money units)
StrongGaruguaWing: 0 ( 2) / 4
Garuga Carapace : 0 ( 6) / 6
Garuga Plate : 0 ( 3) / 2
Hard Monster Bone: 0 ( 0) / 5
The first number is how much of that material you have on your person. The second number is how much of that material you have in your storage box. The third number is how much of the material the 'Sentoryu Wolf' requires.
To get those items, all you have to do is go on quests and get the items. Then you go back to the man with the money and materials, and he will create the Sentoryu Wolf for you.
