Monsignor Farrell High School is located at 2900 Amboy Road in the Oakwood section of Staten Island, New York. Opened in 1961, the school was named in honor of Monsignor Joseph Farrell, a prominent Catholic priest, as well as a religious, political and community leader on Staten Island.

For the 2006–2007 academic year, the principal is Monsignor John Paddack, who has held the position since 2002. The assistant principal is Mr. Larry Musanti. The Athletic Director is Mr. Lou Baldassano. The faculty consists of both clergymen and lay staff.

Noted as one of the best schools in Staten Island,{fact|date=December 2007}} Monsignor Farrell offers its students non-stop guidance, a comprehensive education, and life lessons the students can take with them throughout the course of their education.

The school motto of Vir Fidelis translated from Latin means "faithful man". All Farrell Men strive to spiritually, academically and socially uphold the great traditions as well as the legacy of virtue that has preceded them.

Each year, over 1,000 freshman hopefuls apply to Monsignor Farrell, with 300 to 350 are accepted. Current enrollment is near the 1,200 mark.^[1]

A main draw and attraction at Monsignor Farrell is its powerful athletic programs. The American football team, coached by Mr. Ben Sarullo, is a perrenial play-off and championship contender and has won twenty-four CHSFL Titles. The track team under head coach Mr. Tom Cuffe has produced 25 All-Americans in the last three years. The Track Team has won City titles in 2006 and 2007 and was named as a "Nike Top 20 Team USA" in 2006 and 2007. The basketball team has had the distinction of winning back to back SIHSL in 2005 and 2006. Also, the 2006 baseball team enjoyed a 18 game winning streak led by strong pitching and a potent offense.The 2006 baseball team will be rememberred as one of the best teams to play in the state of New York. They were led by division one college signees: catcher Frank Esposito, short stop Richard Curylo, centerfielder Joe conforti, Pitcher A.J. Pirozzi third baseman/pitcher Thomas Visciano. This tem outscored opponents 176-22 throughout the season and was nationally ranked by USA today. This team is truly the pride of Monsignor farrells baseball history. They also have an outstanding wrestling program which has currently won 3 consecutive CHSAA City championships. The Monsignor Farrell tennis team has enjoyed winning the Staten Island High School Tennis Championship for the years of 2005 and 2006. The Monsignor Farrell Golf team won the 2003 CHSAA championships. The team was lead by Captain Louis Adimando and Assistant Captain Anthony Batista who later went on to play in Division One in college.

The school's marching band finished second at the 2007 United States Scholastic Band Association National Championships, competing as a Group II band at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland on November 16, 2007.^[2]They also took "Best Drumline" award, as well as "Best Music". The 2007 Field Show Sound and Fury of the Skies was an original composition by Adam Vidiksis (Class of '97).
