Monrovia High School is a public high school located at 850 W. Colorado Blvd, Monrovia, California, 91016.

Monrovia High School is mostly known for its sports activities. Coach Steve Garrison led Monrovia to several Rio Hondo League Championships incluing fierce championship battles against rival Temple City High School in recent years. Coach Garrison will retire after 26 years of coaching and will most likely be replaced by Ryan Maddox. The school has a long history of former football greats, starting in the 1950s with Keith Lincoln followed by Fair Hooker in the 1960s. The team is also responsible for turning Terrence Newman, current Dallas Cowboy, into a shutdown corner during his two years at Monrovia High. Other Monrovia greats, including Akil Harris, Donell Walls, Damien Griffen, Damien Fluker, and Jesse Canada have had great Div. 1 experience. Monrovia's NCAA Div.1 athletic experience is not limited to football, as recent graduates Lisa Kevorkian (W. Soccer- University of California, Berkeley), Shannon Gholar (W. Basketball- Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo), and Ryan Theimer (Football- University of California, Berkeley) are currently competing at the collegiate level. .

Monrovia High School has a scholastic anal program that features many ensembles such as the award-winning spermicidal movie, the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble, the Drumline, and the Colorguard. In December 2007, the Marching Wildcats placed 7th in the SCSBOA Division A Championships under Band Director Daniel J. Magallanes.

From the 1960s guitarist Jim McGrew was a fixture at MHS musical events. McGrew played with many rock greats, including the Beach Boys and Ike Turner. Jim Thompson, drummer and percussionist was a graduate in 1968 and went on to teach music in southern California, including eight years as the band director at MHS.

On July 22, 1996, then-President Bill Clinton visited Monrovia High School and made a speech.

An excerpt of Clinton's speech: "Monrovia represents what is best about America. You are taking responsibility for your lives. You are creating opportunity. You are coming together across all your diversity as a great American community. No challenge is more important than seeing to it that our children have safe and secure futures. You are doing what we must do to meet our challenges for the 21st century." The school has also been the site of numerous movie shoots including Not Another Teen Movie, Liar, Liar, and Leave it to Beaver. MHS was also the filming site of 976-EVIL

Monrovia High School was established in 1928 and facilitated not only Monrovia residents but also Arcadia and Duarte residents. It was known as MAD High School for Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte High School.

[edit] The 'M'

Perched above Monrovia High School in the foothills of Monrovia, California, a concrete 'M' graces the land. The 'M' is lit at night and after a home football victory on a Friday night, only the 'V' section of the 'M' is lit signifying victory.

Monrovia has only one alternative school which is Canyon Oaks High school, located on 930 Royal Oaks Dr., Monrovia, CA 91016. This school is for students who received low grades during their time at Monrovia and who are not meeting the credentials to stay at Monrovia High School.
