Monoku
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monoku is a short haiku or sometimes a senryu, written as a one liner. An English-language monoku usually contains much less than seventeen syllables. A ceaesura (pause) may be appropriate, dictated by sense or speech rhythm, and usually very little punctuation. The American poet Marlene Mountain is regarded as one of the leading masters of one-line haiku. Some other prominent haiku poets, notably Jim Kacian and Dennis M. Garrison, have also produced fine examples of monoku.
