Monkstown Community School

Monkstown Community School opened on September 1, 1976 in Monkstown, County Antrim.
During the thirty years of the school’s existence it has educated 4,000 plus pupils, many of whom have gone on to higher level education.
It has some great football players including Corrie Evans of Manchester United F.C. also Robert Weir currently at English Premiership side Sunderland F.C., many of Monkstowns past pupils have gone on to represent many club in the Northern Irish Premier Division.
In 2006 the school reported difficulty catering to the needs of students who have recently arrived from abroad, whose numbers had recently increased. A two-week programme was set up to help overcome language difficulties.[1]

They also have a sports teacher Johneen Black who once graced Glentoran F.C. of the Northern Irish Premier Division, as well as being the youngest ever chairman in history for Larne F.C., and also managed them at one point in his career also. He still remains at Larne this very day serving as a first team coach.
