Monk & Canatella The highly original unusual one of a kind musical outfit created by Simon Russell and Jim Johnston in the mid-nineties, and is one of the original definitive cross over indie/breakbeat bands. Their album Care in the Community is a prime example of the trip-hop sound.

Monk and Canatella are a BreakBeat/Indie/Electro outfit from Bristol, England. The band are renowned for their ground breaking debut album in 1996 on Cup Of Tea Records Care In The Community, and their crazy energetic live shows that followed. The band later moved to Telstar and released a second album Do Community Service. They parted company with the label shortly afterwards. Monk and Canatella are said to be currently working on a new album due for release in 2007.
