Monivea (Muine Mheá, meaning "mead grove", in Irish) is a village in County Galway, Ireland. Monivea is known for its sizable forest and a structure called Monivea Castle, which now lies in partial ruins. A well-preserved mausoleum built by a local Protestant family named French[1] exists near the castle. The French family were also responsible for the distinctive layout of the greens in the centre of the village. These were used as drying stations for the linen of local industries.
