Monique Edwards (born April 1, 19??) is an American actress.
Born Monique Diane Edwards in Kittery, Maine, the daughter of Gloria and John Edwards. Edwards, an Air Force "brat", has one older sister, Deborah living in South Carolina. She attended R.N. Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and currently lives in Los Angeles, California.[1]
Monique's first notable role was as Nurse Laurel Canyon on David E. Kelley's, Chicago Hope. Edwards recurred on the show from 1995-2000. From there she went on to portray A.D.A Teena Davis in Steven Bochco's, Philly starring Kim Delaney, (Army Wives) Kyle Secor and James Denton (Desperate Housewives).
As quoted from the Futoncritic "Monique Edwards is no stranger to Television..." She has made guest appearances on numerous television shows, show such as, The Peabody Award winning episode of Boston Public- Chapter Thirty-seven, ER (TV series), Without a Trace, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and most recently Robin's (Cobie Smulders) News Program Producer on How I Met Your Mother.
In 2007, Edwards traveled to northern Uganda to film a documentary with "Voices of Uganda". This documentary follows Voices in Harmony, a youth arts organization committed to empowering the voices and visions of at-risk teens, as they take their unique theater program to northern Uganda. This film will illuminate the situation facing teenagers in war-torn northern Uganda. Edwards has been a volunteer for Voices in Harmony for the past 13 years.
In October 2007, Monique also participated in GuluWalk - Los Angeles. GuluWalk is an initiative started by two Canadians to highlight the plight of Acholi children in northern Uganda who used to trek each night to town centers in the districts of Gulu, Kitgum and Pader – for fear of being maimed, raped, abducted or even killed by the Lord's Resistance Army(LRA), a rebel paramilitary group that has been operating in northern Uganda since 1987.
In February of 2008, Edwards traveled to Washington, D.C. to with Resolve Uganda to lobby for peace in Northern Uganda on Capitol Hill.
