Monica Moss (born Monica Susana Schütt) is a Bolivian fashion designer with German background.

Monica Schütt was born on January 28th in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. In her early youth she started designing and sewing her own personal wardrobe. After her scholastic education at the German College in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, she went to Europe and studied fashion design in Milano. Back to Bolivia, she created her own collections using her artist name Moss, named after her initials. Since 1998, she has been presenting her fashion in Europe, Japan and the USA and has earned international recognition under her current label Monica Moss.[citation needed]

In recent years, Moss has attained success with designs worn by celebrities including George Michael, Salma Hayek, Rob Lowe, and Sting.[citation needed] In 2007, after her debut runway show in the Big Apple during New York fashion week, Monica Moss was awarded "most out-there" by the New York Second City Style Fashion Blog.[citation needed]

The Monica Moss brand characteristics include joy, beauty, elegance and ease of wear. Michael Quintanilla, staff writer for the San Antonio Express-News, writes: "A highlight of 'An Evening of Enchantment' was the collection debut of Bolivian designer Monica Moss who brought her colorful Carmen Miranda/Carnavale look to the Big Apple. ...The crowd of New York socialites, a mix of PYTs and grand dames, went crazy for Moss' fanciful fantasy gowns that were tricked out with flowers, beads and rainbow bright colors".[citation needed]

Moss' creativity is based on the philosophy that "fashion is a photograph of the soul".[citation needed] She encourages everyone to express their spirit and beauty through fashion, in a cheerful way, playing with colours and shapes.[citation needed] Ethical values of fair-trade, sustainable use of resources and charitable responsibility for people in need are basic principles of her life.[citation needed]
