MONGREL is an American punk/metal band from the Massachusetts and New Hampshire portion of New England.
History
Mongrel began in 2003 when guitarist Adam Savage, formerly of the band Shockwave joined forces with Matt "Death" Rowe, formerly of the band 48 Rooms. The bands' original line up released a self-titled 4 song ep in the Fall of 2003 including 3 original songs and a cover of Body Count's "Cop Killer."
By early 2004, vocalist Matt "Death" Rowe had amicably left the band leaving Adam Savage to continue the band during an evolutionary stage during which the "Open Your Eyes" ep was released. The line up began to stablize upon finding vocalist Drew Barker and drummer Andre Dumont in 2005 and bassist, Rev, in 2006. This line up of the band released the "Refuse" ep in the spring of 2006 followed in July 2006 by the full length album "Fear, Lies, & Propaganda" which would later be picked up for re-release by the Screaming Ferret Wreckords label in association with Locomotive Records on April 8th, 2008. Drummer Andre Dumont left the band in the Spring of 2007 to return to his prior band Graveyard Shyft, and new drummer Ed Loguercio joined the band, followed by new 2nd guitarist, Andrew X. Guitarist Andrew X left the band in early June of 2008 without making his new move clear to the members via a myspace bulletin.
Mongrel has played with such bands as The Misfits, GWAR, Prong, Otep, The Exploited, Hookers & Blow (Dizzy Reed of Guns N' Roses side band), The Evacuation Plan of Piggy D (Rob Zombie bassist side project), Trashlight Vision, Michale Graves (ex-Misfits), Dr. Chud's X-Ward (ex-Misfits), The Indpendents, Blitzkid, Psychostick, American Headcharge, Hed(pe), All That Remains, etc.
Mainstream press has included Revolver Magazine (Raw Talent Section), Metal Edge Magazine (compilation cd, and called "The hardest working band in Boston"), and articles on Blabbermouth.net. Mongrel has received airplay on the major New England radio stations: WAAF, WBCN, WFNX, WGIR, and WHEB, as well as various internet and college radio stations around the world.
