Monginis has made a name for itself in site delivery and accessorized carry-out catering, with telephone and internet ordering options. It counts 430 exclusive franchises in total, and at least one production center each, in 12 cities. These include some of the biggest metropoli, such as Mumbai, Kolkota and Hyderabad. 163 of these are in Mumbai, where the company is headquartered at a 42,000-square-foot (3,900 m²) office/factory complex. Monginis also supplies less perishable products to over 10,000 locations.
[edit] History
Early in the 20th century, two Italian brothers of the Monginis family ran a catering service in Mumbai's Fort precinct, one which was popular with the city's Europeans at the time. In the late 1960s, Monginis Catering was bought up by the Khorakiwala family, and became Monginis Foods Limited. In 1971, the company adopted the franchise model of business, with a stated emphasis on localized production for local tastes. It also models itself on the "food boutique" concept, focusing on quality, presentation and service. It has thereby expanded its brand and reach across the country, hitting a total worth of about 520 million rupees by 1999 [1].
