Monfort College of Business

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business (MCB) at the University of Northern Colorado offers the only program of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region. Focused exclusively on undergraduate business education and internationally accredited in business administration and accounting MCB has been called "the Best Buy in B-schools" by both the Denver Post and US&World News.

One of five undergraduate-only programs in the United States to hold such accreditations (AACSB), Monfort is the sole business school to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from the Office of the President of the United States and the U.S. Department of Commerce. This award is given to public institutions who preform well above and beyond the current trends in their industry. MCB has also received the Timberline Award from Colorado Performance Excellence, and the Program of Excellence Award from the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.

Students at Monfort score in the top 5 percent on nationwide standardized exit exams and earn a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, computer information systems, finance, general business, management, or marketing. Finance majors have the unique opportunity to learn investment skills with MCB's SAFE program, allowing students who demonstrate academic excellence to invest part of the schools endowment on the New York Stock Exchange. Accounting majors are some of the most heavily recruited in the state.

Recently MCB has partnered with the Wall Street Journal to provide students with access to up to the minute business and economic news and commentary. This unique partnership (the first of its kind in the US) has allowed students to gain an "insiders view" as to the inter workings of the American Markets.
