Mondio Ring

Mondio Ring (Mondioring) is a type of dog sport. It is a protection sport that tests the ability of the dog to protect both themselves and their handlers, even through extreme distractions. The sport trials are similar to the work performed by police dogs. Successful competition requires extensive training and discipline.

The competition consists of three sections, always performed in the same order:

  • Obedience
  • Jumps
  • Protection

Mondio Ring translates into "World Ring". It is a combination of the French Ring Sport, the Belgian Ring Sport, Dutch KNPV, and German Schutzhund. It is an international protection sport developed in the late 1980s by representatives from every major participating country. The intent behind the formation of the sport was to provide an international competition that combined the best of each country's existing traditions. Titles awarded in Mondio Ring are internationally recognized.

  • The first "World Championship Mondioring" was held in 1994 in Belgium.
  • The 4th "World Championship Mondioring" was also held in Belgium in 1998 in Brugge. A total of "35" dogs were Malinois, 2 German Shepherds and 1 Tervueren. There were competitors out of Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and USA.
  • Since the 1th January 1995, the Mondioring trial-rules are under the law by the FCI.
