Monday Off
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monday Off is a vocal jazz group based in New York City. The quartet is composed of Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner, Richard Roland and Raymond Sage.
The group formed in Denver, Colorado in March of 1999 when all four members were appearing in a production musical Titanic (musical), and chose the name Monday Off in a nod to the “dark” night of the theatre world. Since then, other members have joined the group.
Monday Off has become a regular fixture in the New York City club scene, in addition to their performances in larger concert halls across the country including Carnegie Hall with Skitch Henderson and The New York Pops. The group has also sung on national television, including ABC World News.
Their debut CD, "Christmas Time Is Here", was recorded with Bucky Pizzarelli and released in 2001 on the Victoria label. Their second CD, “Monday Off”, features Broadway favorites, vocalese with original lyrics and jazz standards, with special guests Avishai Cohen on trumpet, Gene Bertoncini on guitar and Anat Cohen on clarinet.
