[edit] Plot

A woman experiences the same day over and over in an attempt to save Mulder and Scully from being killed by her boyfriend during a bank robbery. As time continues repeating itself, Mulder becomes more and more aware that he's been there before, and tries to figure out a way to prevent the actions from occurring.

[edit] Notes

  • Scully comments on Mulder's waterbed, which was a purchase Morris Fletcher made in the earlier season six episode "Dreamland" while in Mulder's body. Both episodes deal with the concept of alternate realities and distortions of time, although the focus in "Monday" is more connected to the question of free will versus fate.
  • This episode is based on an episode of The Twilight Zone titled "Shadow Play".
  • The general plot and style of this episode strongly resembles a 5th season episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation titled "Cause and Effect". It is also extremely similar to that of the Groundhog Day film.
  • The role of Pam, the would-be bank robber's girlfriend, was played by actress Carrie Hamilton. Hamilton was the real-life daughter of Carol Burnett, and she died in 2002 of lung and brain cancer at the age of 38.
