The following is a list of characters in the manga and anime series BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.
- Yukio ("Koyuki") Tanaka (田中 幸雄, Tanaka Yukio?)
- The main character, the series follows his rapid development from living an average life to becoming an outstanding guitarist. Being extremely polite, he cannot help but let others push him around, a possible metaphoric stereotype on the very proper and manner conscious Japanese society. Recruited as the last member of BECK, he serves as the second guitarist and vocalist, and has a very beautiful voice that is mostly used for Beck's slower songs. He owns a Fender Telecaster, a Gibson SG, a Gretsch 6122 and a '69 Fender Mustang. He finds the broken SG while working for a moving company and has it repaired and buys the Fender Mustang in Tottenham Court following the advice of Billy Riley to "take three lines next time."
- Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)
- Ryûsuke ("Ray") Minami (南 竜介, Minami Ryūsuke?)
- A Japanese character with a long history in America, he speaks fluent English, and frequently uses both Japanese and English in his conversations. He lives alone in a shack by the fishing pond. His skills and taste in music inspire Koyuki to take up the guitar. The band's creator, Ryûsuke is BECK's lead guitarist. A once-younger Ryûsuke and Eddie Lee stole the Lucille from the trunk of Syke's vehicle.
- Voiced by: Yuuma Ueno (Japanese), Eric Vale (English)
- Ken'ichi Saitou (斉藤 研一, Saitō Ken'ichi?)
- Koyuki's guitar and swimming teacher, Saitou once swam in the Olympics but was unable to achieve his dream of winning so has turned his life to teaching others how to swim better. Saitou is loud and demanding in public, and especially strict when it comes to swimming. But when he is out of the water he is much more open, even turning to Koyuki for advice on his attractions to Momo. Saitou is a fan of British rock and his favorite band in the anime is the fictional Rocket Boys (the manga version has him liking The Beatles).
- Voiced by: Porche Okite (Japanese), R. Bruce Elliot (English)
- Maho Minami (南 真帆, Minami Maho?)
- Ryûsuke's sister and a talented singer with a strange relationship with Koyuki. At times she seems attracted to him, others she brushes him off with little regard to his often ignored feelings. However, after Grateful Sound she somewhat clearly expresses her feelings. She leaves to study film abroad.
- Voiced by: Miho Saiki (Japanese), Brina Palencia (English)
- Izumi Ishiguro (石黒 泉, Ishiguro Izumi?)

- Yoshiyuki Taira (平 義行, Taira Yoshiyuki?)
- The first recruited member of BECK, Taira is the bassist, and the most talented band member next to Ryûsuke. He plays Music Man StingRay bass. His attitude may sometimes come off as uncaring. He has been seen working as a traffic officer. As the story progresses, we learn that his father was a jazz musician that left him and his mother when he was young. He is the most mature person of all of the band members, often giving helpful advice.
- Voiced by: Kenji Nojima (Japanese), Jerry Jewell (English)
- Tsunemi Chiba (千葉 恒美, Chiba Tsunemi?)
- Main vocalist for BECK, he is the key member that Ryûsuke needed to bring Taira into the band. Compared to Koyuki, his voice is more punk-rock and rap oriented, like the majority of the band's songs. Despite his looks and attitude Chiba was the top student in his high school which Koyuki and Saku also attended. He can also at times sensitive, and felt secluded from the other band members when he did not see the dream of the dead rockstars at Grateful Sound as the rest of the band did. He also named the band "Beck" after staring at Ryûsuke's dog for a few moments (at the time, he was dissatisfied because all of Ryûsuke's suggestions to name the band had his name on them). He later tries to verify his position within the band.
- Voiced by: Shintarou Oohata (Japanese), Justin Cook (English)
- Yuji ("Saku") Sakurai (桜井 裕志, Sakurai Yūji?)
- The fourth member to join, he was also Koyuki's first good friend, sticking with him even when the school bully and his gang beat him up for breaking the silent treatment on Koyuki. He is the drummer, inspired by his brother, and replaces the original drummer of BECK who followed Ryûsuke from his original band, Serial Mama.

- Eiji Kimura (, Kimura Eiji?)
- Originally in Ryûsuke's first band, Serial Mama, he turned into his rival, and his new band, Belle Ame, formed as BECK's competition was mainly succeeding through appeal for the band member's looks and not sound. Getting all the big breaks, Belle Ame seemed destined for greatness, until BECK destroyed their ride to fame, at the cost of being blacklisted in the music industry.
- Voiced by: Shigeru Shibuya (Japanese), John Burgmeier (English)
- Eddie Lee
- Lead guitarist of Dying Breed, he was Ryûsuke's close (and only) friend. It is while they are growing up (and carjacking) that Eddie helped him find Beck (the seemingly patchwork dog) and Lucille. Eddie died after a run-in with a man and his daughter on the side of a freeway. Mysterious man shot him right then and there.

- John Lee Davis
- Presented as Sykes' uncle in the manga, John Lee Davis is an old country blues man. It is revealed in the story that he was Sonny Boy's pupil and Lucille was bequeathed to him. His tail is also very thin and whips around, as opposed to a regular dog's tail.
