Molecular anatomy is the investigation of the molecular changes of cells, tissues, and organs in a developing embryo. With this information, it is possible to determine potential activities of specific molecules, and using such observations, theories of gene function can be tested experimentally. However, a molecule's presence does not prove its role, but rather implicates it in a particular developmental event.
