[edit] National Final
The national final took place on 9 February 2008 at the Palatul National - "National Palace" in Chişinău. Songwritiers and artists had the chance to submit their proposals and compositions to the channel "Moldova 1" by 11 December 2007.[2] 27 songs were received and released for public hearing via website so that opinions could be collected on the songs and taken into account by the jury when choosing finalists for the national selection.[3] Twelve songs were then shortlisted with the voting results showing that singer Olia Tira and her song "Always Will Be" was favored by the internal jury's opinion.[4]
The competition was broadcast on the terrestrial channel, Moldova 1, as well as the satellite channel TV Moldova International and radio coverage by Radio Moldova.[5] The winner of the competition was decided by a jury, a televote, and a referee committee from TRM.[6]
The results revealed the following: Galina Scoda and early favorite Olia Tira received maximum points from the TRM jury; Alexa and her song "We Are One" was the landslide victor of the televoting; eventual winner, Geta Burlacu, was the Specialist jury favorite.
