[edit] History
In 1995 some friends decided to form a band, that's when Mojiganga is born, comprised at that time of: Miguel (drums), Guillo (guitar and vocals), Juan (bass) and Mauro (saxophone). At first they played songs that satirized and criticized what they didn't like in different music styles, including ska and punk which they ended up fusing to form the style of band.
In 1996 Daniel (trumpet) and Natalia (saxophone) joined the group. The same year they began recording their first album: De las no alpacas, in which they still had an immature sound.
At the end of 1997 they recorded their second album: Estupidas Guerras ("Stupid Wars"), with which they cemented their position in the underground music movement of Colombia.
In 1999 they released their third album: Señalados ("Marked") that had great acceptance among the public, selling more than five thousand copies and finding distribution in other countries like Argentina and Mexico. The album was also nominated for the Shock Awards under the category "best album cover", rated #1 in the lists of the most important rock radio stations of Colombia and won in the Hard Rock Awards under the category "best punk/ska/hardcore band".
In 2002 they recorded with Ryan Greene, a very important producer in the punk rock music world, their album: No Estamos Solos ("We Are Not Alone") that has a sound more like punk rock.
In 2004 they were nominated once more to the Shock awards, this time under the category "best Ska band".
They have performed in the most important cities of Colombia and also in other countries like Ecuador and United States. And have partaken in important music festivals like "Rock al Parque 2003" in Bogotá, Colombia, and in the "Festival Ímpetu 2004" in Ecuador.
In 2004, they opened for The Offspring getting a mix of boos and cheers from the audience that was impatient to see the Californian headliner that was touching Colombian soil for the first time. They have also shared the stage with important Latin-American acts such as Molotov, ANIMAL, 2 Minutos, La Mosca and Café Tacuba. They have also been included on several international compilations, the most important being: Puro skañol ("Pure Skanish"), 1998 by Aztlán Record and Mutante Vol. 1 ("Mutant Vol. 1"), 2004 by Mutante Records.
