Years ago I remember reading about the efforts of citizens of the High Desert areas of San Bernardino County, California to split off from the more urbanized lower southwesterly one-third. However, like a similar proposal around the same time in Riverside County, in which residents of the eastern two-thirds wanted to split off and become "Cahuilla County", there is precious little information about this on the internet. If anybody living in the area has any old scans of news articles or maps or recollections of the proposed secession, feel free to add to this post. I created it because I wanted to learn more about it.--Larry G 00:21, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Is it Mohave or Mojave? It is the Mojave Desert, after all. 128.122.253.229 18:26, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

J and H are pretty similar, really, and the name antedates spelling, even in American. (I expect an etymologist would go into more detail). Midgley 21:13, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
